The sweltering heat and the blinding sunlight made the day unbearable. Su Nian stood by the roadside, clutching her prenatal checkup results, beads of sweat rolling down her forehead like raindrops.

"Baby, Mommy's hot too. Just hang in there a little longer, and we'll be home soon," she whispered to her unborn child, trying to soothe both herself and the little one inside her.

Eight months pregnant, her body felt heavy and cumbersome. She had originally planned to come to the hospital with her husband, Luo Weixin, but he had suddenly claimed to be busy, leaving her to take a cab alone.

Thankfully, the checkup results showed that everything was normal with the baby.

As she approached her front door, she noticed it was slightly ajar, unlocked. Her instincts kicked in. She cautiously pulled out a can of pepper spray from her bag and stepped inside, her heart pounding.

"Xiao Xin, huh? I thought you said you couldn't be with me today?" A man's voice, unfamiliar and jarring, echoed from the bedroom.

"You little minx, it's all because of you," came the reply.

The voice was unmistakably Luo Weixin's, but the tone—Su Nian's hand flew to her mouth, and the pepper spray slipped from her fingers, clattering to the floor. She could never have imagined that Luo Weixin had this other side to him.

"Ah! There's someone outside!" The stranger's voice was sharp, almost painful to hear.

Luo Weixin, however, just slapped the man's backside twice, his tone dripping with arrogance. "Let them listen if they want to. Who cares?"

With a low growl, the person in the bedroom leisurely opened the door and stepped out. To Su Nian's utter disbelief, Luo Weixin and the man were actually walking out arm in arm!

Covering her mouth in shock, Su Nian stammered, "Weixin, you..."

Luo Weixin, visibly annoyed, snapped, "Du Kun is tired. Go get him a glass of water."

Su Nian was seething with rage, wishing she could strangle the two of them. She had just returned from a prenatal check-up, alone and heavily pregnant, only to be greeted by this horrifying scene!

"Get out! Get out of my house!" she screamed.

"You stupid bitch! Have you lost your mind? This house is mine!" Luo Weixin roared, delivering a brutal kick to her stomach.

The excruciating pain left her gasping for air.

"Stop pretending! That bastard in your belly, who knows whose it is? Weixin is being kind enough to let you stay here," Du Kun sneered, twisting his waist as he kicked her again.

Kindness? Su Nian clenched her teeth, beads of sweat forming on her forehead.

"You despicable pair..."

Before she could finish, Du Kun slapped her across the face.

Su Nian felt dizzy, her consciousness beginning to blur, and an uncomfortable wetness beneath her.

Suddenly, Du Kun screamed, "Ah! Weixin, there's blood!"

Blood had already soaked through Su Nian's skirt. Terrified, she looked down at her belly, "My baby, my baby..."

Then, she fainted.

At the hospital.

Su Nian woke up, a sharp pain radiating from her abdomen, her face drenched in sweat. A nurse in white scrubs gently grasped her hand. "You're awake. Are you in pain? Listen to me, you're in a critical condition. It might come down to a choice between saving you or the baby."

"Save me!" Su Nian clenched her teeth, the memory of Luo Weixin's despicable betrayal flashing before her eyes. Why should she endure such hardship to bear his child, only to be humiliated in the end?
